Are You Buying More Or Less Makeup This Summer?

Inexplicably, I've been less and less interested in makeup lately. I used to jaunt to Sephora or Bergdorfs at least once a week (to say nothing of online orders) but lately I just haven't been in the mood. I'm not sure if I've hit a saturation point, I'm happy with what I'm currently using, companies are producing what I find to be less intriguing products, the summer heat is quashing my desire to wear a full face or I've temporarily shifted my priorities (and cash) to clothes and shoes. It's probably a combination of all of the above. I find that I go through phases like this--for weeks my wishlist will grow out of control and then all of a sudden there's nothing I want to buy. One thing is for sure though: I may not be acquiring makeup in droves, but I sure do love to shop! My closet has exploded with recent acquisitions. I've been overhauling my work wardrobe (I always feel so dorky in business casual and I'm trying to find pieces that make me feel confident and chic in and out of the office) and supplementing my workout gear.

Do you find yourself buying more or less makeup lately?

  1. Hi-definitely not interested either! A few things have caught my eye but they're random and I don't feel eager to buy. I'm spending more time outside, wearing less makeup, and just not feeling like accumulating anything. I'm more in a paring down mode.

  2. I'm totally with you on this. I thought it might be 'Beauty Burn-out' but I'm really not sure. There are lots of collections I'm looking forward to in Autumn and Winter but right now, I'm struggling. For a change it's been really hot in the UK and that has really had an effect. I hope my enthusiasm returns soon. I feel lost without a make up pick me up!

  3. I was feeling that way until the Chanel fall collection came out.

  4. Forgot to say- there is a peachy pink lipstick that Chanel just brought out that I think you'd like.

  5. Amen, sisters! I am so tired of a new collection coming out every couple of weeks (Here's looking at you, MAC), that I've become rather indifferent to many of the so-so "limited editions" and "latest additions" the companies are promoting in an effort to get us to open our wallets. Living near the coast in Southern California, I embrace a casual, lighthearted summer look. The next big make-up purchase I'll be making (tomorrow, as a matter of fact) is Chanel's Enigma collection. Now there is something to inspire!

  6. Okay, I 'll definitely "force" myself to check out Chanel fall now that to you all! And look for that lipstick.

Eileen, I totally agree about the constant influx of new collections, especially the overhyped, underproduced LE ones. I can't remember the last time I actually bought into the MAC limited time only frenzy.

  7. I also don't like LE- I like colors I can re-buy if I want to.

  8. Yes i have done the same thing. I am totally not interested in makeup right now. I am basically waiting until the weather is a little cooler and and then i will feel more in the mood to shop the fall goodies. Summer for me is just miserable because i sweat too much and wear little to no makeup at all. I have shifted my interests and cash to getting (another one of my many obsessions) designer sunglasses. Always something to spent money on. But i look forward to getting the fall stuff like Chanel, Guerlain, Le Metier de Beaute, the list goes on. haha. :-)
